BDX

Project Overview

Role & Responsibilities: Product Designer – defined the branding and design language, and created shared resources and tools.
Duration: 03/2022 – 06/2023
Tools: Figma

BDX is a secure, transparent auction-style marketplace that redefines how public data is stored and preserved. On the platform, data clients publish datasets as auctions, while storage providers place competitive bids. Clients select providers based on price, performance, and storage requirements, with all transactions executed through secure smart contracts.

This model disrupts traditional storage fee structures by introducing FIL token incentives, creating a new economic framework that encourages participation from individuals and institutions, and expanding the possibilities for safeguarding valuable public datasets.

Key Challenges

  • Complex Concept Visualization: Translating an innovative auction-based storage model into intuitive user experiences for a non-technical audience.
  • Tight Delivery Timeline: Delivering a fully functional MVP in just four weeks within a distributed, cross-border team.
  • Scalability Requirements: Designing a UI system that could support rapid feature expansion and future market adoption.
  • User Trust Building: Establishing credibility for a novel economic model in the highly technical blockchain and storage domain.

Contribution & Impact

As Brand and Product Designer, I led both visual identity creation and product interface design. From concept to launch, I worked in a fast-paced, cross-border collaboration environment, where our international team delivered the Minimum Viable Product in just four weeks. The MVP became a tangible proof of concept, demonstrating both market potential and technical feasibility, boosting early investor confidence and attracting our first pilot users. Positive feedback validated the core value proposition, accelerated stakeholder alignment, and set the stage for further development.

Key Results

  • Delivered MVP in 4 weeks, covering 70% of core business flows.
  • Designed experiences for two user roles (Storage Provider, Data Client).
  • Created a design system covering 95% of UI elements for scalability.
  • Achieved 70% design adoption from MVP in later iterations.

Achievements

  • Established a cohesive brand identity aligned with the product’s innovative positioning.
  • Simplified complex auction workflows into intuitive, guided user experiences.
  • Enabled faster feature rollouts and reduced design debt through a modular design system.
  • Increased stakeholder and investor confidence through a tangible proof of concept.
